The Preliminary report on Scott Bar and Quartz Hill mining properties: Siskiyou County, California contains a report to W.P. Hammon by a mining engineer on his inspection of mining properties near Scott Bar. The properties are refeerred to as the Lindsey, Cameron option and the Quartz Hill Mine. Includes "sketch of Scott Bar places, August 1908" by Gassaway. Included are eight photographs of the gravel banks, mining areas and the town of Scott Bar.

A search of the title for land T17NR2E site of Gridley Colony No. 9 was done in 1907 by H.D. Lausen at the request of R.C. Long. Later searches were done in 1911, 1917, and 1919 by W. T. Baldwin of the Butte County Title Abstract Company. Owners included the irrigated Land Company of California and Sutter Butte Canal Company.

Amos Keyes Stearns Diaries
Amos Stearns, a physician, came to California from Ohio in 1852. He became a miner, while continuing his medical practice. His family remained in Ohio until 1866 when they joined him at the Tom Neal claim near Dogtown (Magalia). Dr Stearns was superintendent of the Willard Mine when they famous fifty-four pound gold nugget was found on the Feather River.
