Scope and Contents
Contains one 41 page abstract of title, covering the time period 1865 to 1899. Block 8 is located in downtown Chico, between Broadway and Main and directly south of 2nd Street. The abstract was requested by W.J. Costar. H.D. Lausen was the abstractor.

Biographical / Historical
John Bidwell originally possessed block 8 of downtown Chico (California) as a part of the Arroyo Rancho grant. In 1865, he deeded lot 3 of block 8 to G.C. Hewbach.
An abstract of title contains the history of a particular piece of land as it relates to patents, deeds, releases and mortgages.
